Spotify behind the lyrics feature

Spotify is undeniably one of the finest music apps as of now. Of course, there are many similar apps that are quickly catching up but Spotify clearly stands apart in terms of features and usability. It is clear from the fact, that the app is used by millions of iPhone users. Even if we compare it with Apple Music, Spotify has more number of users worldwide. Not only does it support the iOS platform, the app runs exceptionally well on Mac OS as well, making it accessible on all the major Apple devices including iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Mac PCs.

But despite its increasing popularity, there are several loopholes in the Spotify app that will strike you as annoying as ads that appear on the screen. No, even worse, it kills all the fun. Yes, we are talking about the pop-ups that appear behind the lyrics while you are listening to the music. However, it is placed in the background right over the album cover so that you can easily understand the song lyrics that appear overhead. But you might find it annoying as it hides the album artwork.

Well, interestingly, you can easily get rid of this behind the lyrics pop-up. In this blog, we’ll tell you how to do that. So let’s get started!

Step-by-step Guide

Below is the step-by-step guide to disable the ‘Behind the lyrics’ pop-up on select Apple mobile devices. Note that the procedure given below enables you to disable this feature only on select iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices. The process may vary depending on the type of iDevice you are using.

  • Launch the Spotify app on your iPhone/iPad.

  • Tap on Your Library tab.

  • At the top right corner, tap on Settings button.

  • On the menu that appears, tap on Playback.

  • Scroll down a little, you’ll find Behind the lyrics option at the bottom.

  • Disable it by tapping on the toggle switch.

When you turn it off, you will still see the lyrics at the bottom as the song plays. But it won’t overlay the album cover as it did back then. However, in case you want to disable it entirely, it can’t be done on stock devices. But you might be able to do that on jailbroken iDevices using a jailbreak tweak called IamNoGenious. This jailbreak tweak is exclusively devised for Spotify app and it completely removes the ‘behind the lyrics’ feature from the app. This jailbreak tweak works on iOS 8 and all the later versions.
