Facebook Introduces M To Pop Up Suggestions

A couple of years ago, Facebook launched M which is described as a helpful assistant in Messenger, powered by artificial intelligence. Earlier, It was available for San Francisco users. Now, M roll out to all ios and android users in the U.S.

What is Facebook M?

M is an AI assistant. Initially, Facebook announced M as a small Artificial Intelligence experiment.  It pops up at the certain point of your messenger chat window to recommend related content. You could ask M to do almost everything you want on your behalf. It can book your air tickets or railway tickets, it can find you any number, it can suggest you gifs related to your chats.

M includes several features like stickers, booking a cab, locations, making plans and much more. If you say “congratulations”, M might pop up stickers related to it or if someone says may me $20, It will show you payment options. For locations, if someone asks your location, it will unveil a location sharing shortcut. If your friend says “let’s meet tomorrow,” M will help you create an appointment. It suggests a poll if you are unable to decide upon something. Makers of M says, that the more you use it, the more it'll learn about your like and dislikes. The good thing, If you don't like it, you can mute it.

And rather than applying the same experience to everyone, Everyone sees different M Suggestions which is based on the user's habits, The idea here is to provide suggestions based on your conversation and your preference. "It's the Artificial Intelligence's decision on what to serve and how."

The software is handled by humans, who oversee conversations to improve M through machine learning techniques, They step in whenever necessary.

Where is Facebook M available?

For the past few months, facebook tested M in San Francisco. It is now available in U.S. and soon will be available to other countries. Facebook M is the messenger for ios and android users.
 

Can you disable M?

The good thing about Facebook M is, If you are not interested in having a chat bot slide, you can go to settings and easily mute the software. You can also mute certain suggestions which you don't like.

Currently, M suggestions are not as powerful as Google Assistant is in Allo. But Facebook promises to introduce new features in the coming months. Right now, US users can enjoy these Features by upgrading their Facebook App on either ios or Android device.
