Alibaba AI Model beats Humans In Stanford Reading Test

Surprisingly, Alibaba’s AI programs along with Microsoft have defeated humans in the Stanford reading comprehension tests. And, this test was one of the challenging ones to beat.

A natural-language processing AI by the company of Jack Ma has scored higher than humans and become the first machine to do this. The AI experts conducted this test at stanford university to evaluate the reading capacities of computers. And the AI program developed by Alibaba was the first one to outformes human’s scores. A chief scientist named Luo Si  who is incharge of  natural-language processing at Alibaba’s AI research unit, have made a statement that factual questions such as ‘what causes rain’ have answers through machines with high accuracy.

These recording breaking results can pave a way for more advanced robots and automated systems. This could solve complex problems and find answers to difficult questions.

Moreover, AI model by Alibaba scored 82.44 exceeding against the scores of humans which were 82.304. The reading test named SQuAD contained over 100,000 question-answer pairs based on over 500 Wikipedia articles.  Microsoft also scored 82.65 in the same test. However, the results were finalised a day later, the firm claimed.

Alibaba has already started making use of the technology on singles day which is a world’s biggest shopping event. Here, computers are able to answer the questions of customer service.

The ability to read and understand is gift given to humans. But, the feature of AI models for being capable of reading holds a future in which machines can comprehend words and meaning better than humans.  Gradually, AI technology can move towards implementing to several software applications like customer services, responses that we get online for medical inquiries, etc. So, are we saying the need of humans for these tasks will reduce? The answer is yes. Since, AI has come a long way but we only see it as truly valuable when AI works in harmony with humans.
