Testers Roles and Responsibilities
In every profile, there are some roles and responsibilities which are actually associated with it. This roles and responsibilities give the value to the profile. Role and responsibilities are linked to each other. If you have some role then you have to perform the duties and responsibilities related to that role.
Testing plays one of the most important role in the software development lifecycle. A tester should have the complete knowledge of functionality and flow of the project. In the absence of project manager, it is the duty of test manager or testing team that can explain the overall project to anyone and should be able to understand the new requirement. It is the responsibility of the testers to understand the requirements properly so that a good quality product or the product according to specified requirement can be delivered to the client.
These are the roles and responsibilities of the tester:
1.The tester should have the complete knowledge of the project.
2.Testers should have the skills so that can adapt new technologies easily.
3. Testers should be able to update himself/herself according to new requirement and functionality added to the project.
4. Tester and testing team is responsible to design the test scenarios.
5.Testers are responsible to design the test cases.
6.Testers are responsible to test the entire project.
7.Testers are responsible to design or create the test report.
8.Sometimes testers are also responsible to create the project documentation.
10.Testers have to interact with the client for the better understanding of project requirements.
Many people have made the wrong assumption about testers roles and responsibilities. They think testers don’t have so much to learn. if they are manual testers they only have to give the input to the project and analyze the result But as a tester, I really want to make the things very clear that every role have their own values
Tester’s role is not only given random input and analyze the result.Other than manager the tester has full knowledge of the project, developers actually work on the specified modules they take there most of the time for understanding and developing assigned module, so they suffer lack of understanding of the modules which are not related to their module. But the testers have to keep their eyes on every module and their functionalities.
