For all of us, privacy and security is a major concern when it comes to messaging with friends and family. Signal is a Chat Application that is becoming popular due to its secure platform. It allows its users to send messages and pictures with strong encryption both ways. Infact, your voice/video calls are end to end encrypted by Signal App. Smartphone users can run this app on every mobile platform.
Many of us are aware of the fact that messaging Apps collect information about us for advertising etc. We all want our conversations to be private and secure. Can we trust these apps? Nearly same features as Signal are provided by WhatsApp as it also uses same mechanism for end to end encryption. But it is owned by Facebook. Facebook takes an interest in collecting data for advertising purposes. It is capable of extracting metadata from your chat routine. It can reveal to whom you have sent a message as well as the time. In comparison, no other party can see the messages sent over Signal. Encrypted messages in Signal cannot be intercepted by anyone. Unlike other messaging Apps in competition, it does not offer cool stickers or games, but you can still send pictures, videos, and documents. Signal is open source and it is being worked upon by the experts to make it better in security terms. Signal gives you a chance to force individual chats delete themselves after a designated amount of time.

After Signal App, WhatsApp should be the option for encrypted chat with anyone. WhatsApp has nearly billions of users who rely on it. You might not make all of your friends and others use Signal over WhatsApp. So problem here is, “Messaging with cross-app applications is not supported.” Security researchers also found out that Whatsapp backs up your data by default to your phone’s Google or iCloud account which comprises of the chat history too. From privacy point of view, Signal is the best choice because it offers short privacy policy. As for using Signal, it asks for only phone number and some profile info. Sending invitation link to people for Signal is easy. Your only task is to click on"invite" button inside the chat window and a link will be sent to your friends to download the app.
